The oldest tennis tournament in the world and widely regarded as the most prestigious of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. It is traditionally played over two weeks every summer. Wimbledon dates back to 1877 and is the only major still played on grass.
Creating a racket
SportsWorld is an official corporate hospitality provider for some of the world's biggest and most iconic events around the globe. They asked Byers+Co to create an engaging sub-brand and event graphics to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Fairway Village. It was important that the work produced was of a premium and high-end quality to reflect this occasion. We were honoured to be trusted to deliver for such an illustrious global sporting event.
We first started out by researching and helping to develop a creative brief, process schedule and list of deliverables to meet the tight deadline. We presented a number of rough sketches showing various directions, all logos were presented in black and white to ensure correct structure and proportion. We then shortlisted and developed further until the preferred solution was decided upon. Once approved, we closely focused on developing the brand guidelines that included colour palettes, typefaces and a logo pack containing various formats and colour variations.
A bespoke presentation box was designed and personally tailored for each corporate and individual attendee to safely hold important documents. We made a quick prototype using cardboard and sent a video to visualise and explain the folding process. This simple video was valuable when communicating to the printing company in China. Packaging was printed on a high-end 450gsm soft touch board and finished with silver foil.
Game, Set & Match
We carried out a brainstorming session with the client and came up with a number of possible straplines before settling on ‘Your Slice of Wimbledon’. Guest passes were individually created displaying the attendee’s name and company logo, this helped to personalise the pack and make it feel unique. We followed up with a digital email campaign to Australia, South Africa and Europe attendees to keep them informed of important travel information and the project was completed by consistently applying the new brand to all event materials.
Feedback from all corporate sponsors and guests was very positive, the information supplied, and the well organised/structured event made for an enjoyable and hassle-free experience. Giving the success of the sub brand, event materials and presentation box, SportsWorld decided to run with the same artwork the following year, just updating dates and basic information. This allowed us to save our client money and deliver in a matter of days.
